SACRED COWS

SACRED COWS

I have had people look at the titles of my books and ask me, “What are SCARRED cows?”  Others have asked me why I have written about SCARED cows. There might have been a little bit of a problem with dyslexia involved here.

My children have erroneously referred to my first book as I’m Killing My SECRET Cows. You’ll have to admit it. The word secret does sound similar to the word sacred.

I have had to explain that it’s not SCARRED cows, SCARED cows, or SECRET cows that I’m writing about, but SACRED cows. You have probably heard how there are sacred cows in India wandering around in the streets, where the people are hungry, and yet nobody will turn one of these cows into hamburger. These cows are considered sacred and possibly to be a deceased relative who has been reincarnated. There are people who would rather be hungry than to kill a sacred cow. Read more about SACRED COWS

I AM GOING FOR THE GOLD

I AM GOING FOR THE GOLD

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

I heard of this Olympic male swimmer who shaved his legs in order to rid himself of any hindrance caused by hair on the legs. A few tenths of a second can make a difference between winning a gold medal and not winning.  Read more about I AM GOING FOR THE GOLD

SCARED TO DEATH

SCARED TO DEATH

“Know ye that the LORD He [is] God: [it is] He [that] hath made us, and not we ourselves, [we are] His people, and the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:3).

My mom’s husband, Bob, told Lance and me a story about when he was a little boy. He lived on a farm where the coyotes would sometimes howl at night. Since his family did not have electricity back then, his father would take a lantern outside and fire a gun into the air to scare the coyotes away. Read more about SCARED TO DEATH

GETTING SORROW OUT OF MY HEART

GETTING SORROW OUT OF MY HEART

“Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth [are] vanity” (Ecclesiastes 11:10).

This verse saved a friend of mine from multiple sclerosis. Mona (not real name) was experiencing symptoms such as limping, visual disturbances, the malfunctioning of her hands, along with other neurological symptoms. Her doctor told her that he thought she had multiple sclerosis. This may not have been an official diagnosis, but when I was diagnosed with this horrible disease, the diagnosis was made strictly from the symptoms I was experiencing. The same is true of many others who have been diagnosed with this disease. Read more about GETTING SORROW OUT OF MY HEART
