WHY ARE YOU AFRAID? DON’T YOU KNOW THAT I AM WITH YOU?

WHY ARE YOU AFRAID? DON’T YOU KNOW THAT I AM WITH YOU?

WHY ARE YOU AFRAID?  DON’T YOU KNOW THAT I AM WITH YOU?

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage, be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9).

Sometimes I call him Grandpa. Other times I call him Dad. Usually though, I call him Bob.  Bob married my mom 6½ years after my dad passed away.  Bob has been a huge asset and a tremendous blessing to our family ever since. The grandkids love Grandpa Bob. That’s why I sometimes call him Grandpa.

Bob is a farmer and owns a deer habitat. Lance has counted over 200 deer at one time on this piece of land. Bob has been a hard worker all of his life. He is a very practical “farmer type of guy,” who had a miraculous experience of God’s protection while working on his farm.

After listening to his story, I thought, “Wow! This sounds like being “translated” – as in Acts 8:39 where “the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip” after he baptized the Ethiopian eunuch. I have read how John G. Lake described his personal experiences of being in one place and being miraculously translated to another place where God needed him to be.  I think this is what happened to Bob. GRAB THE MICROPHONE

GRAB THE MICROPHONE

GRAB THE MICROPHONE

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12).

I absolutely loved hearing Richard Roberts tell this story about his father on the September 14, 2015 Believer’s Voice of Victory broadcast.  His father, Oral Roberts, was conducting one of his tent meetings when a lady came forward to have her little boy prayed for. He had been born without one of his hip sockets and needed a creative miracle. Oral was honest with her when he said, “I am so sorry, ma’am. I don’t have faith for a creative miracle.” He then told her, “This healing will need to wait for the resurrection.” Read more about GRAB THE MICROPHONE

OUR WORDS CAN BE A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY

OUR WORDS CAN BE A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY

OUR WORDS CAN BE A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY

“Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you” (Numbers 14:28).

The above verse is quite sobering as it states that God will do to you what you have spoken in His ears. Probably everybody reading this devotional knows the Bible story of how the Israelites murmured for forty years in God’s ears as they wandered around in the wilderness. SANCTIFIED WHOLLY BY THE VERY GOD OF PEACE

SANCTIFIED WHOLLY BY THE VERY GOD OF PEACE

SANCTIFIED WHOLLY BY THE VERY GOD OF PEACE

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

If people were sanctified wholly [spirit, soul, and body] by the very God of peace, then there would be no need for pharmaceutical drugs. Read more about SANCTIFIED WHOLLY BY THE VERY GOD OF PEACE

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS NOT OPPRESSIVE TO WOMEN

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS NOT OPPRESSIVE TO WOMEN

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS NOT OPPRESSIVE TO WOMEN

“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak;  but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law.  And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church” (1 Corinthians 14:34-35).

I love the song, “Where he Spirit of the Lord is, there is FREEDOM.” This song is taken from 2 Corinthians 3:17, which says, “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

I cannot picture a congregation singing this beautiful song about freedom and then to not permit the women to speak. What kind of freedom is this? You might say to me, “I can see how you would think this in today’s culture, Joy, but this was a different culture back then. Women were oppressed at that time in history.”

This is true. However, the Apostle Paul was the author of the Read more about THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST IS NOT OPPRESSIVE TO WOMEN

PSALM 91 IS FOR REAL

PSALM 91 IS FOR REAL

PSALM 91 IS FOR REAL

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).

Psalm 91 sounds too good to be true!  There is deliverance from the snare of the fowler [trap of the devil], according to verse 2. That’s good news if you’re caught in the devil’s snare with a disease or some other problem.

God’s protection is so real that there is no reason to fear terror, flying arrows, pestilence, or destruction (verses 5-6). This takes care of a lot of fear of evil. This is a great verse to claim today with all the fear there is regarding terrorism. Read more about PSALM 91 IS FOR REAL

LET PSALM 103 RENEW YOUR MIND

LET PSALM 103 RENEW YOUR MIND

I have listened to regret expressed over a sinful past. I know from experience that having a disease can be compared to living in a cage with a grizzly bear.  Have you experienced sin to such a degree that you are convinced you will never know cleanness of heart and soul? Has your body been attacked by disease to such an extent that you can’t even imagine being whole again? If so, let these verses from Psalm 103 renew your mind:                                   Read more about LET PSALM 103 RENEW YOUR MIND
